Weekend in Edinburgh

(Hint, hint: here's where Edinburgh is just in case you weren't paying attention that day in geography class...)

Just before Christmas, Tim decided (all on his own, with no pursuasion from Jen... honest!) to sign up for the Edinburgh Half Marathon. After following a rather well-designed (if I do say so myself) training program and staying dedicated even through some of the busiest times at work, Tim amazed us both with a new PB of 1:52! Nice job! (or should I say, "Well Done!").

In the days before the race, we 'rested' by walking all up and down Edinburgh's hilly city center. Of course, we saw the Edinburgh Castle...

...which has very pretty views from all the way up top... ...and we saw a real bagpiper...

...and a Town Crier competition...

We also took a very cool underground tour and saw what Edinburgh was like many years ago.

And who could leave Scotland without tasting some good scotch?! (Though maybe the Scotch tasting on the afternoon following the race wasn't the brightest idea as about 1 taste nearly put us over the top!)

Our B&B was a really cute little place overlooking Leith Links - the park where the original rules of golf (or Links) were written some hundreds of years ago.

Appears all Scots aren't too happy with the unification with England though. Saw graffiti like this everywhere...

so for once maybe having an American accent was a benefit!

We did manage to get some rest though. With it so cold outside, we made good (and frequent!) use of those comfy Starbucks chairs!
